Breaking: APC National Working Committee panel cancels ongoing primary election in Lagos
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National
Working Committee (NWC) said on Tuesday evening that there was no primary
election conducted in Lagos state, Premium Times. It was gathered that the
panel said it had not sent anyone to the local governments to screen the
primaries. As results of the voting had been announced at several wards in the
state, the panel urged the public to disregard such announcements
It
was earlier described that the chairman of the Lagos governorship electoral
panel, Chief Clement Ebri, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, allegedly said
accreditation and voting were yet to begin at the various centres. This is as
various news sites including the electronic media carried clips of the exercise
and interviewed critical stakeholders and one of the aspirants. The electoral
panel said the election had not started as at 1pm.
The
panel, in a statement, urged the public to be heedful of the reports that is
going around. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who arrived his ward in the Alausa area of
the state earlier, said the party had decided against Ambode. He noted that he
brought Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to the party and assisted him to become
governor. He, however, said the situation was now beyond him.
It
was earlier reported that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, said that though Lagos
state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has done well in office, he has not been a
good party man. It was gathered that for this reason, Tinubu said, the APC has
decided to withdraw support for the governor who wished to go for a second
term.
It
was also reported on on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, that APC members in Badagry,
disagreed on use of party slip by members to vote for the governorship primary.
The APC members trooped out as early as 8:30am to participate in the direct
primary election adopted by the party in the State.
